![]() Fits that horror vibe that Subnautica can sometimes give off. Like Subnautica, it has a narrative that pushes you through some fun twists and turns. Crafting game but with a good amount of combat. Awesome base story, the vibes are immaculate (especially if you're playing on a snowy winter night), and there is a good amount of replayability. We are getting a bit into city builders here, but imo Frostpunk is the GOAT of city builders, I just have to mention it. I would be a lot better at this game if there wasn't a bit of micro involved. It's hard, but there are few things more fun than building murder lanes for the dead to navigate through. ![]() You're building a base to outlast swarms of zombies. It got to a point where it felt like I needed to be an engineer to progress any further - which may be the exact type of game for you! but then you get to some of the harder portions, particularly managing the heat of your shelter (it gets really fucking hot). I played like 60 hours of this game in a blink. The early base building is so much fun here - a lot managing your environment as you build a shelter for your colony to survive. ![]() The vibe of the game style and the music also make this such a zen experience. You have so much room to customize the design of your home, and the mechanics largely make sense. A survival crafting game, but I particularly love the building mechanics here. If you're the type to meticulously plan bases you build in Subnautica, you'll love adding some function to the form in Satisfactory. It's a different type of base builder, in that you are building factories to deliver some level of output - but man is it fun. And then of course all of your Bethesda, Arkane Studios, and Eidos Montreal games.These games also give you a similar need to be prepared/careful when you explore a new area. The horror, sci-fi elements allow for this series to constantly surprise and excite you with its set pieces. But this definitely scratches the exploration itch. I suck at them, so I play on "easy" mode (summon lots of friends where I can). These are my favorite games because of the new environments you'll constantly find yourself in. Terraria/Starbound: Top-level survival crafting games, but the environments and treasures to uncover make you want to keep playing late into the night.This has been referenced a few times already.
